Objectives
On completion of the module students should have acquired: i) an understanding of the potential for the application of GIS in the handling of environmental data. ii) an appreciation of the utility of GIS in environmental management and policy making. iii) a critical understanding of the difficulties and limitations of using GIS in environmental applications. iv) skills in the application of GIS and models in environmental analysis and problem solving with particular reference to research design and techniques. v) field-based skills in the collection of data using GPS, and its integration with GIS data bases.

Terrain analysis 2: applications. 8. Hydrological modelling 1: catchment models. 9. Hydrological modelling 2: run off models. 10 Land suitability modelling. 11. Spatial decision support systems
